So, what's the story behind this place? I always drive by it and am super curious about it. Has it been there forever? Has it always been under that name? Is it still in operation?

Yesterday we posted a 1977 ad for 'The Groves' housing development. Do you know why that development was named The Groves? There are many residents that do! ...That area was the Tapo District, and was all groves, mostly orange. The Tapo Citrus packing house was where City hall is now. Here's a great photo of 'The Tapo' from the Volz family, taken in October 1961, looking west. The field in the foreground is where the Kohls shopping center is now. The street running up from the bottom left corner towards the center of the photo is Alamo, and the Tapo Citrus packing house is the large white structure in the center. The curved railroad spur can be seen curving off of what is now Tapo Canyon to behind the packing house. The street running from the bottom right corner to the center of the photo is Avenida Simi. The land between Alamo and Avenida Simi will become the City's civic center, Rancho Tapo Park and developments, including 'The Groves.' See more

Bring the fun home! Many of us have been home and sheltering in place for over a month. We are going through many different phases while adapting to a new normal. We might be feeling seemingly more adjusted to our current reality. We are finding creative ways to stay fit and new ways to broaden our personal skillsets too. shift gears and sit back and relax with your family. Here are five ways to enjoy culture and the arts from the comfort of home. Look For the Latest Relea...ses Even with major theater chains around the world closing their doors and many film studios pushing back the release of blockbuster films, there are still many new movies that have seen earlier-than-expected digital releases or in the case of Universal Picture’s Trolls: World Tour skipped a theatrical release altogether. Grab a seat, open up your favorite on-demand video service and enjoy these newly released films. Check Out Live Streams The energy of attending a live stage production is difficult to replicate, but with lights temporarily darkened on Broadway and other theater districts, BroadwayHD is streaming hundreds of shows for your theater-going pleasure. From Cats and Phantom of the Opera, to the King and I and Driving Miss Daisy, take in some incredible performances of world-famous shows. If stage productions or films aren’t what you’re looking for, you can always take a virtual front row seat at a concert. Billboard has an ever-expanding list of livestreams and concerts streaming directly to your TV or mobile device. It’s also a great time to see what your favorite artists are up to on platforms like YouTube for rare and intimate performances from their personal spaces. Gear Up Your Home Equipment Now more than ever, you may begin to realize that your TV or sound system could use an upgrade. Take a moment to visit theWirecutter.com and browse recommendations for ways to spruce up your multimedia experience. Sometimes simple and low-cost updates can work to make your living room feel more like a theater. Get The Grub and Goodies Make it fun, dine-in, , the food and drink at a theater helps complete an experience. Make your own with food delivery services like Doordash, GrubHub, Amazon’s Whole Foods delivery or pick up your favorite pizza. Keep doing the things that you enjoy by finding new ways to do them while staying safe at home. Is there something else you’re doing to bring the theater home? Let us me know in the comments and remember, we’re all in this together.

Avoid disruptions on your credit history that impact your score during the buying process. It’s imperative to getting a final approval for your mortgage. Avoid opening lines of credit, or financing anything at all. Do not switch jobs and don’t make significant changes in your employment until after you sign your closing documents. Always talk to your mortgage loan officer when in doubt.

2020 PANTONE LINE UP: #1 OCEAN COLORS Laurie Pressman, Vice President of the Pantone Color Institute, shared a little secret well in advance of Pantone’s official annual announcement. She spoke to an audience at the fashion trade show in Las Vegas, and said that the Pantone Colors of the Year for 2020 are inspired by the sea. Blues will take center stage, browns inspired by dried seaweed and driftwood, sand-like whites and cool green hues. Think cane and rattan furniture, natural colored accessories, and pops of turquoise, aqua and ocean blue. The beach scene is back! Did it ever leave?
