GREATEST MOMENTS IN SWIMMING In 1988, Matt Biondi's brilliance in the Seoul, Korea Olympics was the closest thing anyone had seen to Mark Spitz. Biondi won seven medals overall that yearfive of them goldand set a world record in the 50-meter freestyle. In a cruel turn of fate, Biondi is perhaps best remember, however, for one of the races he didn't win. In the 100 fly final Biondi underestimated his distance from the wall and coasted the final few meters, allowing Suriname's Anthony Nesty to nip him by 1/100th of a second.

CHEATERS! She is special. That’s what club swim coach Norm Havercroft in Saratoga, California, told the mother of 15-year-old competitive swimmer Jancy Thompson in 1997. And because she was so special, Havercroft needed to spend one-on-one time with her every morning, at 5 a.m. So the mother, who also had an infant son, got up before dawn to drive her daughter to the pool and wait in the parking lot, breastfeeding the baby. But, according to the allegations of Thompson’s 2...Continue reading

She first won a bronze medal as part of the 4100 m freestyle relay team, alongside Penny Oleksiak, Taylor Ruck, Kayla Sanchez, and Rebecca Smith. MacNeil next competed in and won gold in the women's 100 metre butterfly, beating four-time World and reigning Olympic champion Sarah Sjöström, in what was considered a major upset. U.S. Masters Swimming Summer National Championship starts today, and while most might think only the best of the best attend these types of meets...the truth is... that it is open to everyone! USMS members of all abilities, from beginners to Olympians, are welcome to participate in USMS National Championship events. ANY member can enter up to three individual events WITHOUT meeting the National Qualifying Times. Which is pretty cool. So...keep that in mind for next year! Oh and some tips like these don't hurt either!

Just some friendly, technical reminders! #repost simcoachen.se 1. You don't breath with your eyes. Keep them low and don't look up on birds. 2. Make contact... with water AT THE SAME TIME as you take a breath, otherwise you fall down. 3. One hip close to surface. At all time. 4. Toes pointed in towards each other. Also when breathing. . . #simcoachen #ingenvanligcrawlkurs #tribesimcoachen #openwater #instaswimming #openwaterswimming #longdistanceswimming #stroketechnique #crawl #freestyle #chlorineismyperfume #girlswhoswim #coachlife #swimcoach #swimming #openwaterswim #simcoachentravel #olympicswimming #olympian See more
