Deadly CDC, FDA continue to investigate the multistate Shiga toxin-producing E coli O157:H7 infections, first reported April 13, 2018. As product labels do not always identify growing regions, consumers would be wise to avoid eating or buying romaine lettuce, including whole heads, chopped or baby romaine, organic romaine, and salads/salad mixes containing romaine lettuce. Retailers should not be serving/selling any romaine lettuce from the Yuma AZ growing region. Clinicians ...should refer to the CDC website for states where infections have been reported.
