Today is National Women Physicians Day and we want to show some love to our amazing female doctors. (Many of our female docs aren't in the picture but we see you and appreciate you!) This date and event celebrates Elizabeth Blackwell’s birthday; she was the first female medical doctor in the U.S. It’s a time to honor women doctors across the country, and the progress they’ve made since Blackwell’s time. Nationally, there are still fewer female doctors than male doctors, but the progress is steady. In 2017, for the first time in history, women made up more than half of all those in medical schools.

We are beyond grateful for the annual donation from @SpiritHalloween and their #SpiritofChildren program. This year they donated $48,756 to our child life department. Jenna, 14, has a passion for dancing. She also has a history of juvenile idiopathic scoliosis that was diagnosed at age 8. She and her family met with Robert Cho, MD, chief of staff at Shriners for Children Medical Center, to discuss treatment options.
