Giving Tuesday is a day intentionally observed after Black Friday and Cyber Monday to remind Americans not to get lost in consumerism & to remember non-profit organizations, charities, and good causes in general in the holiday season. This year, we encourage you to remember you local churches as you consider where to give. We appreciate your generosity at Shoreline, but this applies wherever you are. Many churches in America are struggling during this pandemic to pay the bills, so whatever church you call your home, or even one that you don't, but know is struggling, please remember them today. #GivingTuesday2020 #GivingTuesday

It's been a weird year. We keep saying that every time we write a caption for a holiday post, but it's hard not to. Every holiday this year seems like it has an asterisk next to it--like celebrating had to be rain-checked. Thanksgiving, however, may be more important than ever this year. It's easy to celebrate what you're thankful for when everything is going well. It's harder when life is a struggle. Jesus opened the great sermon on the mount in Matthew 5 with, " Blessed are... the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted." Even in hard times, let's remember together that we are blessed. Let's count those blessings and let our joy and peace come not from our circumstances, but from our God. And let us spread that peace and joy to everyone we interact with, whether in person or over video chat. Happy Thanksgiving! "Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." - Philippians 4:4-7
