The SHN Marty Lay award is generously funded by one of our local engineering consulting firms. SHN Engineers and Geologists continues to support the ERE program... by providing summer and academic internships for undergraduates and regular opportunities for our graduates to obtain full-time positions. The award was established in honor of a long-time SHN engineer Marty Lay who was highly regarded for his teamwork, passion, and leadership at SHN. Jared Goebel is the recipient of this award. Jared is a senior in our program who has served as a lead tutor for the engineering program and is passionate about working with and supporting his peers.

"The COVID-19 virus is an enveloped virus, with a fragile outer membrane. Generally, enveloped viruses are less stable in the environment and are more susceptible to oxidants, such as chlorine. While there is no evidence to date about survival of the COVID-19 virus in water or sewage, the virus is likely to become inactivated significantly faster than non-enveloped human enteric viruses with known waterborne transmission such as adenoviruses, norovirus, rotavirus and hepatitis A)." https://www.who.int//water-sanitation-hygiene-and-waste-ma
