Membership Meeting 12/30/2020 There will be a CLUB MEETING for the entire membership on 12/30 at 6:00 pm. This "meeting" is usually held at the Christmas Party, which we are unfortunately not having this year. During this meeting, we will announce the new board of directors, talk about what has been done this year to enhance member benefits, and give members a chance to ask questions and make suggestions to the BOD. This will be a "Zoom" meeting, so if you would like to attend, please contact Greg Angsten, who is hosting the meeting. He will email you a link to allow you to enter

If you are a member of SHGA, and you have NOT received a ballot, please contact me so I can get you one. There is a bylaw change that requires a majority vote so it is very important that we hear from as many members as possible on this issue!

Monthly BOD Meeting November 14th, 2020 There will be a (Zoom) meeting of the Board of Directors this Saturday at 09:00. All members are welcome to attend but this is a Zoom meeting, so contact Marshal Robin for details if you want to attend.

SHGA After Dark Due to cold weather this weekend, our movie will be this Thursday (11/5). The movie will be Coco, a 2017 American computer-animated fantasy film produced by Pixar Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures. Based on an original idea by Lee Unkrich, it is directed by him and co-directed by Adrian Molina. The film's voice cast stars Anthony Gonzalez, Gael García Bernal, Benjamin Bratt, Alanna Ubach, Renée Victor, Ana Ofelia Murguía and Edward James Olmos. The story follows a 12-year-old boy named Miguel who is accidentally transported to the Land of the Dead, where he seeks the help of his deceased musician great-great-grandfather to return him to his family among the living and to reverse his family's ban on music. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rvr68u6k5sI

It would appear that the forest service "quietly" rescinded the closure yesterday, although it was scheduled to end on the 8th. Steve is running a truck and I suspect others will as well. Happy flying. Look here for wind conditions on top. http://shga.com/whackCam.asp

No updates to the forest closure so far this morning. Still awaiting new guidelines but expect that it will remain closed. We'll update the news section of www.shga.com when we have updated information

The Regional Forest closure order that was set to expire on 9/30, has been extended 1 more week. You may also stay updated at our Angeles National Forest website: https://www.fs.usda.gov/angeles. Please click on the Alerts and Notices link on the left margin to access closure notices.

YouTube Live feed is now active. Its primary purpose is to show the windsock throughout the day until about 3pm and then slew to the LZ. The feed should be active everyday until about 5pm. We'll have a few more cameras activated in the coming weeks.

This Saturday's Movie Sept 24, 2020 This Saturday's movie (Sept 26th) will be Big Wednesday, a 1978 American coming of age film directed by John Milius. Written by Milius and Dennis Aaberg, it is loosely based on their own experiences at Malibu. The picture stars Jan-Michael Vincent, William Katt, and Gary Busey as California surfers facing life and the Vietnam War against the backdrop of their love of surfing.
