We’re all going through the current COVID-19 crisis together. And while everyone is at home helping to flatten the curve, The #LASD Homeless Outreach Services T...eam and Sheriff's Youth Foundation decided to bring some joy to the children housed in shelters during the COVID-19 Stay at Home Campaign. By partnering with the community, the #LASD was able to provide toys and some comfort to children at the Whole Child Family Shelter, in Los Angeles California.The Whole Child Center (TWC) is a non-profit organization established in 1957 by community members who saw a need to provide help to children in vulnerable communities with Mental Health, Family Housing, Parent Enrichment and Nutrition Education services.

Thank to Deputy Lou the Hulk Ferrigno for bringing joy to our honorary Deputy Explorer, Matu. We are proud to have Deputy Ferrigno as part of our Youth Services and Youth Foundation team, where mentor ship, guidance and education is the number one crime fighter.

We're proud to see our YAL kids so excited to learn about local accomplishments in Aviation such as that of the SR-71 which was built right here at "Skunk Works..." in Palmdale. With help from Palmdale Sheriff's Station's LET Ashley Blais and Sheriff's Volunteer Martinez, we were able to stay in touch with some of our Youth Activities League (YAL) members. Jordan received a scale model of the fastest jet on the planet, the SR-71 Blackbird, Landon wanted the WWII German dive Bomber "the Stuka" and Tatiana wanted to build the largest ship afloat at the time, British passenger liner "Titanic." The Palmdale Sheriff's station's YAL will be following up with the YAL kids on the the progress of the building of their scale models and offer them guidance along the way. LASD is on a Back to School MUST HAVES Mission in Compton. The Sheriff’s Youth Foundation donated backpacks full of school supplies, and also offered parents and students cyber bullying safety tips!
