Sharia's Closet

Sharia’s Closet is a grassroot and community based non-profit organization that serves from the heart. Our clients come from situations such as domestic violence, homelessness, and much more. We provide free, emergency clothing to those experiencing financial hardship or crisis. We connect with community members in need through direct referrals from a wide network of schools and service agencies. We want to thank our volunteer Sasha for her help in organizing a clothing drive for us. She lives in Carmel Valley and posted an ad on Nextdoor and was shocked to see the abundance of positive feedback from her community. The willingness to help those in need was amazing. Over the course of 3 weeks, Sasha spent hours picking up bags and sorting through clothing. She said it was incredible seeing her neighborhood being so generous during times like this. We love seeing other ...communities banding together to help others. Together, we can make a difference. We had a busy weekend! Lots of good going on at Sharia’s Closet. We held a joint event with Free to Thrive in hopes to spread a little holiday cheer to human trafficking survivors. Shamine really went all out to provide an amazing shopping experience at the closet for these resilient folks. We also had visits from Brooklynn and the Club Give Good at Torrey Pines High and Hannah & Jill Meltzer and the Torrey Pines Cheer squad! Club Give Good did a men’s clothing drive and ...the cheer squad helped to collect clothing and they provided them all clean and sorted! We are so grateful for our community partners and the outpouring of support from our neighbors! October 10th is World Homeless Day! In 2019, there were just over 8K homeless living on the streets or in shelters in San Diego. There are many different factors as to how people become homeless. It is important to shine a light on this issue and help people achieve stability. Sharia’s Closet has helped over 1,000 unsheltered San Diegans in 2020 with clothing and supplies to help them get back on their feet.
