In keeping with the times (both current and ancient) Ms. Fasules’ 9th-grade English class staged a debate - this one took place on Mount Olympus. Each of her students studied a Greek god or goddess he/she admired and then argued before Zeus (Ms. Fasules) why that god/goddess is still relevant today and deserves to remain on Mount Olympus. Shalhevet hosted its very first virtual Coffee Night - and the event was attended by over 100 prospective parents! 10th-grader Vivienne Schlussel got things started with a beautiful D’var Torah before faculty/admin shared information and fielded questions. Mr. Pavel Lieb’s Environmental Science class explored the concept of biodiversity through the microbiological prism. Lab students explored and performed bacterial sampling throughout the Shalhevet building - learning how to visualize the processes and conditions required for living cells to sustain themselves. Shalhevet Head of School, Rabbi Ari Segal, will be among the featured panelists on PORAT: People for Orthodox Renaissance and Torah’s two-panel program on The Future of Modern Orthodoxy. The first panel will discuss what success means in the context of Modern Orthodoxy and consider the challenges associated with Modern Orthodoxy’s big tent.
