Sowing Seeds for Life will host its 14th annual holiday drive-thru food pantry on the Pomona Raceway at the Fairplex 8 a.m. to noon, or until supplies last, Wednesday, Dec. 9. For the third consecutive year, SoCalGas has demonstrated its commitment to supporting our country’s military veterans by providing a full tuition scholarship to US Army veteran Roberto Alvarez for the upcoming Leadership Pasadena 6-month intensive community leadership development program, starting January 2021. Alvarez is Special Assistant for Military and Veteran Affairs for Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger’s Office. Past veteran scholarships have sponsored candidates for Leadership Pasadena’s Civilian Leadership for Veterans Course, which was reserved for veteran participants only. The 2021 class strives for representation across all sectors and community groups, combining civilian community leaders and veteran leaders within the same cohort.

The LA Fairplex has laid off more than half of its full-time employees, the organization confirmed. 82 employees originally furloughed this spring were notified of the layoffs on Oct. 30.
