SFYC Racing 08.12.2020

The virtual racing Corona Cup continues. The Series has over 100 participants, but last weekend's regatta was small, so we have plenty of room for Members to join this coming week. Email Jack Barton at [email protected] for more information, or check out the event links at https://www.sfyc.org/Clinics Regatta and Series RESULTS: https://docs.google.com//1PuIuaQPs0IbphYRAqED5AtJ5AK/edit

Steve Hunt, HS coach extraordinaire and very successful professional sailor, is running a one hour webinar this Saturday through Oakcliff Sailing about Match Race Moves in Fleet Racing. (Starting moves, attacking downwind, match racing the fleet etc..) 1 p.m. EST. Youth sailors and/or High School Sailors would benefit from it. Adults can benefit too! It’s $20 but should be well worth it. There are many nuggets of information that will make sailors better fleet racers. The second regatta of the Corona Cup took place last Friday-Sunday and drew 55 "boats" to the online platform. Sunday's racing broke the top 20 qualifiers into a gold fleet and the next 20 into a silver fleet for the Final Series. The competition was fierce, with the top 8 boats all within 10 points after 15 races. RESULTS: https://docs.google.com//1PuIuaQPs0IbphYRAqED5AtJ5AK/edit

SFYC Youth regattas are back! Online. Last weekend SFYC Head Coach Jack Barton tried his hand at Chairing a 3-day regatta on Virtual Regatta Inshore. With the crucial support of Youth Director Abby and Coach Parker also running races, and Sailing Director Forrest behind the scenes scoring we had 75 "boats" taking part in at least some of the 15 races held Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Sunday's Gold and Silver "Finals" fleets had some serious competition. The organizers l...earned a lot during this first regatta and plan to polish our online skills for the next one. The "Corona Cup" Series will continue online indefinitely, like the rest of our lives, with a regatta every weekend. Thank you Regatta Chair Jack, for all your hard work getting this thing off the ground! RESULTS: https://docs.google.com//1PuIuaQPs0IbphYRAqED5AtJ5AK/edit
