We love this illustration by Wine Folly showcasing the red wine making process. A really great resource for both enthusiasts and professionals who want to understand more about how red wine is produced. If you want to take a deeper dive into your favorite reds, then we recommend The Dark Side of Pinot (2/25), Que Syrah Syrah (2/3) and Cab is King (3/3) workshops. Each one comes with its wine kit! https://winefolly.com/tips/facts-about-red-wine/

Last year's Sips with Soul event, which featured 23 of today's Black winemakers, winery owners, and sommeliers, was designed to generate awareness and support for black wine professionals as well as raise money to benefit cultural education and civil rights. The event was a huge success, and in honor of #BlackHistoryMonth, the event replay is now available online as well as a selection of wines from the event. A proportion of funds raised will be donated to Museum of the African Diaspora (MoAD). To shop, visit https://sanfranciscowineschool.com//sips-with-soul-retail-.

We learn a lot about the world's different grape varieties and wine regions, however, it's not just these factors that make a bottle of wine. How the wine is made can make just as big of an impact. Our Wines with Style series explores global wine production methods and how these different methods help create our favourite sparkling, rosé, and fortified & dessert wines. Within this workshop, students will also learn to examine how those techniques are perceived in your glass. Anyone can enjoy this eye-opening program, from enthusiasts to professionals studying for certification exams. The next program begins on November 28th and a la carte workshops are also available within this program. New students can book now to receive 10% off with the code COMMUNITY10. https://sanfranciscowineschool.com//wines-with-style-series

This video captured by firefighters as they battle through the Glass Fire shows the devastating effect the wildfires had on some of California's most beloved wine regions. The fire has been catastrophic, but we are so grateful that it's now contained, and residents can return to their homes. Without the work of the fire departments, who've worked endlessly to try and contain the fire, we dread to think what would have been. We are so thankful for them and look forward to bein...g able to rebuild the local communities. Witnessing the devastation caused breaks our hearts. Those who have been affected can now continue their wine education journey because we have extended our COVID-19 financial offers to include victims of the fires. If this sounds like you, you can apply for reduced fees across a range of workshops and programs by visiting https://sanfranciscowineschool.com/.

While there is no one definition for Natural Wines, many are made from grapes that are not sprayed with pesticides or herbicides. The grapes are often fermented with native yeasts, unfiltered, unfined, and have no sulfites added. Malo-lactic fermentation and cold stabilization are skipped. Some whites are left on the skins and are left in vats without being topped off. Many winemakers and critics disapprove of the wine while others swear by them. We want to hear from our community! Are you a fan of natural wine? Or, do you feel it is just a new "wine trend"? Let us know!
