We, with the COVID Command Center, announced today that in partnership with Chinese Hospital and community-based organizations, we will host the first City spon...sored free pop-up mobile test site in Chinatown. The pop up testing site will be at Chinatown’s Portsmouth Square on October 30 and November 6. This pop-up testing site will be free. Appointments are recommended but walk-ins are also welcome. This pop-up mobile test site, being developed in partnership with Color will focus on serving our Chinatown community, which is populated by members of SRO buildings, the senior community, the immigrant community, and our hardworking essential workers, who need testing the most. "While wealthy families have found refuge from the claustrophobia of the pandemic through mountain getaways and out of school time enrichment pods, poorer families and those in dense neighborhoods rely on playgrounds for their physical and emotional well-being. Playgrounds are the most equitable, accessible and democratic recreational amenity that a city and its state can offer young children and their families." The French Sculpture La Rose des Vents by Jean-Michel Othoniel has taken up permanent residence in Golden Gate Park. Nine months after it was originally scheduled to be permanently installed to coincide with the #GGP150 anniversary celebrations in April 2020, the glistening kinetic gold and aluminum sculpture returned to its place in front of the San Francisco Conservatory of Flowers where it was first installed in September 2015 by Gallery 836M in partnership with us and the San Francisco Arts Commission. We're excited to have this a highly visible treasure enjoyed by San Franciscans and visitors alike for decades to come. Read more about the installation here: https://bit.ly/3qNCRCH

The State has moved San Francisco to the Yellow tier - this means we are succeeding at mitigating the spread of #COVID19. Keep up the good work by continuing to wear a mask and maintain physical distance. #MaskTheSFup

Congratulations to our West Portal Playground renovation team, which just won a 2020 San Francisco Collaborative Partnering Award! Led by Project Manager Melinda Sullivan, the Rec and Park team partnered with San Francisco Public Works, SFMTA | San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency, Treaty Construction, Friends of West Portal Playground and the San Francisco Parks Alliance to finish the project ahead of schedule, under budget and with spectacular results. The renovation, which debuted Oct. 14 when playgrounds re-opened citywide, features new, vibrant and inclusive play equipment, including a dragon-themed slide, in addition to a nature nook for children, new plantings, seating and paving. It is one of 13 playground renovations made possible through the #LetsPlaySF campaign.

We are working with the community and other city departments including SFMTA | San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency, San Francisco Police Department and San Francisco Public Works on new ways to ensure access to Twin Peaks for all. Five alternative designs were developed for feedback. If you would like to provide input, please take our multilingual survey in English, , Español, or Filipino. The survey will be open for two weeks until November 3. Once the survey... is closed, the feedback will be analyzed and a final proposal developed and shared with the community. Thank you for your interest and input on this important project. For more information and to take the survey: https://bit.ly/37zt7oi If you have questions, email [email protected].
