Poolee Cristian Bravo-Sierra, from Recruiting Substation Eureka, began his 13-week journey at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego yesterday. Poole Bravo-Sierra enlisted to become part of the infantry. Read why he joined below. I chose the Marines because I knew it was gonna be a challenge. Nothing about being a Marine is easy and my whole life I feel like have been fighting challenges and facing adversity, but on top of that I wanted to be able to be part of the few and the ...proud. Not everyone can say they served their country let alone be a Marine. During the DEP program I learned a lot about team work, it’s not all about you it’s about the people around you and helping them out with the struggles they’re going through. But most importantly I wanna thank everyone who supported my decision up to this point on. From my number one fan in the world, my mother, to my closest friends, coaches and family who has always pushed me to be the best person I can be and to not quit. I also want to thank SSgt Mann, SSgt Luna, and Sgt Spain for keeping me motivated throughout the entire process now it’s my turn to pay them back.

Poolee Michael Bair from Recruiting Substation Fremont began his journey into the 13 week challenge of recruit training. Hear why he joined below. Why the Marines? Many members of my family have been in the military, but only the Marines interested me. The physical and mental challenges outrank all the other branches. There is also this sense of belonging and a pride that every Marine has of being a part of this elite brotherhood. What did you learn during your time in the D...EP? In the delayed entry program I learned about teamwork and careers. We learned teamwork through the workouts and doing everything together. My recruiters also answered all my questions about the careers I was interested and ultimately influenced my decision to be a cyber network operator. To my friends and family I’d like to say thanks to everyone for their love and support. I’d like to thank my recruiters for pushing me to get in shape and always being there for me when I have any questions.

Did You Know? The pistol qualification is one that is not required by every Marine; instead, only certain military occupational specialties, officers and staff non-commissioned officers require annual qualification on the service pistol. In order to ensure these Marines are properly trained with the weapon, the Marine Corps implemented the Combat Pistol Program. U.S. Marine Corps photos by Lance Cpl. Colton Brownlee
