Laura Yeager, Commander of the California Army National Guard and the 40th Infantry Division, paid an office call to Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti a...t City Hall on June 5, 2020, to discuss California National Guard operations in the city. Mayor Garcetti expressed the gratefulness of Los Angeles for the Soldiers and Airmen of the California National Guard for their efforts to protect lives and property in the city over the past week during what the Mayor called a painful moment for our country. On June 6 and 7, Cal Guard Soldiers and Airmen departed the Los Angeles Convention Center and returned to their respective armories. Last week DCA received a donation of hygiene kits from Operation Gratitude. The materials were donated to the California National Guard for our Citizen Soldier...s and Airmen who are serving on the COVID-19 Mission. These donated items created over 4,000 hygeine kits, assembled by Soldiers in the California State Guard and delivered to DCA by Youth and Community Programs Task Force Sergeant Major Richard Aller. Every Cadet and Staff Member received a hygeine kit complete with a note of gratitude from the volunteers. Operation Gratitude, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, is the largest nonprofit in the country for hands-on volunteerism in support of Military, Veterans, and First Responders. Since 2003, the organization has delivered more than 2.6 Million Care Packages and has provided opportunities for countless Americans to forge strong bonds with their Military and First Responder heroes through volunteer service projects, acts of gratitude, and meaningful engagements in communities nationwide. In 2019 alone, more than 1 Million volunteers participated in 10,000 Operation Gratitude Service Projects nationwide. Thank you Operation Gratitude!!!

As #CitadelGuibert2018 comes to a close, 40th Infantry Division Commander, Brig. Gen. Mark Malanka takes a final walk down the hallway.

The Train, Advise and Assist Command - South, comprised of the 40th Infantry Division and 2nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, participated ...in an Afghan-led Humanitarian Assistance/Disaster Response Exercise, March 18-19, on Kandahar Airfield. Resolute Support Mission, which directed and hosted the exercise, selected TAAC-S, commanded by Brig. Gen. John Lathrop, to lead the effort because of the extensive real world experience of 40th ID Soldiers. As a part of the California National Guard, the 40th Infantry Division is often called upon by California Adjutant General, Maj. Gen. David Baldwin, to provide support to civilian authorities during natural disasters, most recently during a series of California wild fires. As a result, the knowledgeable leaders of TAAC-S were able share their experience with their Afghan counterparts during a constructive and beneficial exercise.

We are mourning the loss of personnel aboard a U.S. HH-60G Pave Hawk helicopter who died when it crashed in Iraq March 15. Our thoughts and prayers are with the... families of the fallen as we patiently await until they have all been notified and have had time to process this tragedy before their names are released to the public.
