GRANT OPPORTUNITY: This Wednesday, February 10 is the deadline for the Artivist-in-Residence (AIR) grant! The AIR program supports a nonprofit arts organization to hire teaching artists as part-time hourly employees to design and implement socially responsive art and creative exploration learning experiences (e.g. in-person, hybrid, remote) as a means to heal and build community. Today - if you happen to be in New York, Battery Park City Parks will be celebrating the installation of a public artwork by Bay Area artist Mildred Howard! SFAC's Public Art program has been working with Mildred Howard for a new public art sculpture at the Southeast Community Center in the Bayview neighborhood. The work will be unveiled in 2021!

Thank you Diablo Magazine for their article on artist Walter Kitundu's upcoming public art piece at Alameda Creek Watershed Center in Sunol. Kitundu's piece will include a golden eagle sculpture created from steel tubes, which will stand over the Muwekma Ohlone tribe’s homelands near the watershed and pay tribute to their creation story.
