Outdoor Art Show this wkend in Barrio Logan !!! 2/13, 2/14 ** Saturday & Sunday @walktheblocksd X @groundfloormurals will be debuting an outdoor art experience called #ArtCrossing that will stretch from the end of Chicano Park to 26th street. ... 30+ artists were given a 4x4 piece of plywood to use as a blank canvas and they were all asked to meditate on the word HOPE while creating their piece. We will be attaching their completed plywood canvases to metal stands that will be spaced out all along Logan Ave. This show will be part walking gallery and part outdoor art installation - so if you are looking for something fun & memorable to do this holiday wkend , then def cruise over to Barrio Logan !!!! We have the best food, drinks, gift shops and ART all on one block !!! Growth means making hard decisions but I’m here for the challenge

When you #walktheblock this Saturday, be sure to keep an eye out for various local artists who are working together to create beautiful murals all along Logan Avenue. Our block, from Chicano Park to 26th street, currently has seven trash bins and they are all in pretty bad shape. They are constantly being tagged up and vandalized and it really creates a huge eye sour for our community. That is why some business owners along Logan Ave have began donating a small portion of the...ir Walk The Block earnings to a new community initiative called Clean The Block. Clean The Block’s first public sponsored art project will include the beautification of these seven trash bins. Local community members, @galeria1904 and @betty_bangs will choose seven local artists to paint vibrant, Chicano-themed murals on each of the seven trash bins. **All of the artists will be paid for their work** We believe that small beautification projects, like painting the trash bins along Logan Avenue, have the potential to be incredibly impactful on our youth and can have lasting positive impacts on our community. But this is just the beginning we all have a lot of work to do See you Saturday !!!

Logan Avenue is not maintained by the city of San Diego. As business owners and community members, it is our responsibility to make sure that our streets are kept clean. Walk The Block is fully committed to helping our local community solve this issue. Many Logan Ave business owners and vendors have began donating a small portion of their Walk The Block earnings to a community initiative called Clean The Block. Within the first few weeks of launching Clean The Block, we have ...been able to hire a local maintenance crew that will be sweeping our streets from Chicano Park to 26th st, re-painting all light poles, weed whacking, and picking up all excess trash. The crew will be out here during Walk The Block today, so if you see them out and about, please say hello & show them gratitude As a community, we can solve many of our own issues internally. It is clear that we are not a priority to the city, but we are most certainly a priority to ourselves and our families. Our community is strong and we can get through any crisis - but we must work together; there is no other option. We are problem solvers, we are creative, we are hustlers. If the city will not lend a hand, then we will clean our own block. We will be posting more updates and details about Clean The Block next week and we will definitely be sure to let everyone know how they can get involved and support this community-centered fundraising effort. Last Saturday was lively along Logan Ave ! Such a great vibe thank you again to everyone for supporting your local creatives & storefronts. Instant delivery & online shopping is cool ..I get it. But when you buy something from your local artist, you are truly making a difference in their lives - and even pre-COVID, this was the case - but now more than ever it’s incredibly important to support your neighbor’s hustle. ...
