Boiled wool dresses might be my new favorites!

Some of you know, I'm a breast cancer survivor. Being diagnosed as a young mother was a big challenge. And now it happened to my friend, and it's time for me to give back... We organized an auction to help her cover her expenses, because let's keep it real, the health system makes having cancer not only scary, but also a big financial burdon. We want her to be able to put her focus on her health and have a little less worries about finances. I added, besides a painting, two ...custom outfits, one for kids and one for mamas. Please join our group (link in the comments), if you would like to snag one of my outfits or many other amazing items (talking about a package of Amy's food to drumming lessons with the drummer from Hamilton, personalized outfits, pottery, services). Bidding opens at 8pm tonight. Also, if you would like to contribute an item, please feel free to pm me. Thank you! See more

I did it. "Ich bin über meinen Schatten gesprungen" is what we say in German - "I jumped over my shadow". Which means, I went out of my comfort zone. I did something, I haven't done since "before"... Isn't it weird, how my whole life is a "before" and "after" cancer?! So many things changed. Not only my health. My mental state. My view on things. Also, my body... And that, I'm telling you, is a tough one! I did not only loose a boob to cancer. I also gained a lot of weight. ...And while I eat mostly healthy and I'm going for daily walks/hikes/bike rides, I allow myself more. Because, we live only once. And if I really feel like having some icecream just before going to bed, I might... because it makes me happy in the moment. Not so much, when I see myself in the mirror... one of my kids told me, no one wants to take pictures of me, because I'm always complaining and I'm not happy with the results. That's me, looking at myself... not his photography skills... So, I decided to do it. I applied for a pattern testing. For shorts, because you don't really see the rest of my body in the pictures. I thought... But I want to be better and love myself how I am and be a good example for my kids. So here's me, in my whole beauty... This post is so much more than showing off a shirt or a fabric design. This post is so much about me. Our usual photoshooting lasts about 3 minutes. Then the patience of my 8 year old photographer is done. I taught her to just.keep.on.pressing.the.button. 3 minutes turn into an average of 30 pictures. At least 80% I have to sort out. I'm not a perfect model, I forget to push my chin forward, I don't wear shapewear or a fake boob, I usually have bodyparts cut off in the pictur...es, I have a photobomb, who always wants to be by my side, especially when I would prefer to be by myself. While some pictures look more or less professional, this little photoshoot is 100% my life. So I will describe each and every one, how I see it: 1.) This is me. Should have worn a different bralette, without visible seams, pushed my chin out and sucked my belly in. But, I didn't. THIS IS ME! No bad vibes! 2.) Sometimes you have to take things serious. Like, when someone asks you to shelter in place. Or wear a mask. Or do whatever else it takes to protect others and yourself. Guess what? You can be serious and funny at the same time. Wear your mask, match your outfit! 3.) Photobomb. Of course. Eyes closed. Of course. So much love I feel under my hand! 4.) I love curved hems. And at least I have a cute little butt. 5.) My favorite picture of this series of myself. I look kinda cute. But the love handles... *sigh* and of course, the photobomb! 6.) The truth is she runs the show. She says, I run the show! I think we're running it together... 7.) Last but not least. I love little detail pictures. No bad vibes! More facts: fabric design by Wunderpop Designstudio für Nähzubehör for Lillestoff. Body changes make me wear different clothing styles. I love to wear looser dresses and shirts now, prefer a higher neck. When Tante Adel upcycling Designerin was looking for some people to design sew her Mama Charlie dress, I knew this was meant to be. The dress comes with different sleeve and hem options, and has tutorials for making it an oversized fit. I made the simple version just a little slimmed down with a curved hem and added hidden pockets. It can worn wide and fl...owy or with a belt to give it more of an hourglass shape. The fabric is slubjersey from my lillestoff - organic fabrics and more. It's 100% organic cotton, lightweight and perfect for California summer heat. Also, the Golden Poppy design by Enemenemeins is a must here! I got so many compliments wearing it yesterday, made me so happy! #lillestoff #mylillestoff #tanteadel #designnähen #sewrubylicious

I discovered a new happiness: Trades! Need a rain suit, have a hat? Trade! Enjoy someone else's crafts, that you're not talented in? Trade! I did quite some in the last couple weeks and the joy it brings to both sides is amazing.... This time I traded with Happy Place. Her woodwork is amazing, you need to check out her page! We decided on a secret trade! I told her about having a little one, she told me about her son enjoying yellow and bugs and needs pants. She send me the sweetest little bear (I stole her picture) that was obviously well loved by my little one and a cute little cherry wood cutting board. I send her a yellow bug pants and matching hat. Trading gives me so much more joy than buying stuff. Try it out! Fabrics: my lillestoff - organic fabrics and more Pattern: joggers and slouchy beanie by Lowland Kids #waldorfmamas #organicfabrics

Well, my plan was to show you this very, very sweet waffle piqué jacket I made. Took pictures outside, where she found one of the lemons, that hang over the fence from neighbors... This might be the funniest fabric promotion post ever?! Enjoy! Waffle piqué in rust from my lillestoff - organic fabrics and more.

Couldn't decide which pictures to show, so here you go, here are all of them: My Mr. Horn got orange dots first, and he looked pretty sick. Not sure if it was more chicken pox or measles style, but he just didn't look healthy, so I gave him rainbow dots. ;) It's been an incredible long time since I did an appliqué. I don't have an embroidery machine, so I basically draw with my sewing machine. When Lillemo asked if someone wants to test her new appliqué resign "Herr Horn" I ...knew this is what I needed to get back at it. I love to have the matching fabric and to be honest, I love that these unicorns are not just crazy and pink, but pretty neutral. Also, the rust red might just be my new favorite color!
