If you've been here since the spring, you may have enjoyed the new exhibit panels on display there, a product of a long and frui...tful collaboration between the parks and local tribal partners. Prior to the establishment of the national parks, Pah-din, or Hospital Rock, was the site of a village, in an area where the Mono (Monache), the Yokuts, and the Tubatulabal connected with their neighboring tribes to form a vibrant community. This area has deep significance for local tribal communities today, and the exhibits feature the faces, words, and language (via audio recording!) of leaders from these communities. #NativeAmericanHeritageMonth

In observation of Veterans Day, Wednesday, November 11 is a fee-free day at Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks. Congress, by public law 441, made the Gener...al Grant Tree a National Shrine on March 29, 1956. Fleet Admiral Chester W. Nimitz, personal representative of the President of the United States, officially dedicated this tree on November 11, 1956 as a perpetual shrine to our nation's veterans, during a special ceremony at the base of the tree. It is the only living monument ever designated in America. Thank you to all of our nation's service members, veterans, and military families for everything you have given to protect the future of all Americans.
