Healthier and happier seniors in retirement communities Among the U.K. study’s findings: Residents of retirement communities were shown to be 75 percent more physically active than those who opted to age in place in their current home. Physical activity is a key predictor of overall health and longevity. Staying fit and active improves seniors’ cardiovascular health, decreases depression and anxiety levels, and helps maintain a healthy body weight, among other benefits.

Bonifacio, AKA ‘Juhn Bug’ or ‘Mr. Williams,’ is a major team player. He is very respectful and is always going above and beyond to satisfy the needs of residents. He takes initiative on things that are not correct and corrects them without being told what to do. Anything asked of Juhn Bug is done with no questions asked. Juhn Bug is very mechanically inclined, keeping preventative maintenance flowing for our vacuums and carpet shampooers. Juhn Bug is an awesome asset to The S...equoias’ Housekeeping team! Jim Garden, Director of Environmental Services, and Aziz Chakib, Maintenance Manager -------------------------------------------- Every day, this selfless superhero supports residents in Memory Care and her colleagues by cheering them on and rallying around residents’ journeys to whole health and wellness. Kriselle has a healing power. She goes above and beyond the call of duty to connect residents with the resources they need to feel better. I will hear Kriselle sing to residents to calm them down when she is giving them medications. I see the genuine interaction and smiles from these residents. It’s in those little moments that the magic often happens residents feel the warmth, love and support from someone who really cares for them. Kriselle has endurance to make it through her shift, lengthy to-do lists, and heavy responsibilities. Even more impressive, she doesn’t let the residents and her colleagues know how tired she is. She continues to provide the highest quality care to each and every resident in Memory Care, no matter how long she has been on her feet. Kriselle has a pure heart. For Kriselle, the things that matter are others, way beyond herself. That is what life is all about for this superhero. Carol Blackwell, Director of Assisted Living & Memory Care See more
