How many minutes, hours, or even days have you spent worrying or stressing about a problem? Have you ever thought about an issue or remembered something from the past that ultimately ruined your day? Or, do you ever sit and allow yourself a minute to feel upset then pushed yourself to let those feelings pass and go on with the rest of your day? We all have at one point or another I suppose, right? I thought about all the people I knew who spent many of their waking hours fee...ling sorry for themselves. How useful it would be to put a daily limit on self-pity. Just a few tearful minutes, then on with the day Tuesday’s with Morrie This is one of my personal favorite lines from one of our many books available for you to read at our office. ‘Tuesday’s with Morrie’ teaches us about patience, gratitude, and above all PERSPECTIVE. Things happen, we can’t always control that. What we can control however is our perspective of the matter and ultimately how we react to obstacles put in our path. Actions don’t affect us as much as our reactions do. It’s a great read if you are into reading or just looking for a little change in perspective. The next time you are in our office ask us about ‘Tuesday’s with Morrie’ or any of the many books available to read. See something that catches your eye? Take it! No charge. And you don’t even have to bring it back. There’s only one catch. PROMISE us that YOU WILL read the book that you select.

Here’s a tip for managing anxiety. When a client shares one of their worries with me, I ask them this question: What’s the worst case scenario for this worry?... I don’t ask this because I want them to worry more. I ask this because imagining the worst case scenario is one way to see your worries in a more positive light. Once they explain what the worst case possible would be, I ask them, What would you do if the worst case scenario came true? Often they are not sure. They say they would fall apart. But then, we brainstorm a plan together. Take this example: a client was worried about a project at work that wasn’t going well. When I asked her, the worst case scenario was that she would lose her job. After expressing her fears and doubts surrounding this possibility, we talked through what she would do. She could start an Etsy store with her crafting hobby. She could search for a new job at a different company in the same field. She could file for unemployment insurance. She could take an online educational course that she had been eyeing and learn a new skill. Afterwards, she felt more secure. She knew that even if the worst case happenedwhich it probably wouldn’t!she had a plan for how to keep going. I encourage you to write down the worst case scenario, how that would make you feel, and how you would keep going whenever you have anxiety. Sometimes, having a plan for the worst is all you need to see that everything will be okay, in the end. And remember you can always schedule a FREE CONSULTATION or SKIP THE CONSULT and book now at www.SelfHelp.la Sincerely, Armando
