Ready for the Holiday Show tonight! We can't wait!
Hello Seaside Families! Thank you all for contributing 107 toys to the Toy Drive benefiting the families of the Lomas Del Valle community in Mexico. With your help, we reached our goal of 100 toys donated! Derek and Juliana Grotzinger of San Diego Experiences help coordinate and execute this annual event that serves families living in extreme poverty in Mexico. For these children, this is the only NEW item they receive during the year. Something as small as a brand new soccer... ball or Barbie doll means the world to not only the children, but the families in the community, too. There is a lot we take for granted living here in the United States and we don't always realize how many resources are available for our own impoverished citizens. The people of the Lomas Del Valle community have no running water, paved streets, or community services to rely on. They are in survival mode every day which is hard for us to imagine. Events like this one are certainly special and are looked forward to every year. This past weekend, Derek and Juliana, along with other organizations they partner with, helped distribute food, toys and good cheer to 850 people in the Lomas Del Valle community. Not one child was turned away. Imagine if our 107 toys were not donated! That would mean 107 children would have to be told there was nothing for them this year. Your generosity is greatly appreciated. If you would like to continue inspiring charity in your own family please check out this article for great tips: http://www.parenting.com/article/teaching-your-child-charity.
