Unconscious incompetence starts off when we have little to no knowledge of a particular skill, habit or behavior, and we may not even REALIZE how little knowledge we have. We move into Conscious Incompetence when we realize our lack of skill or knowledge about a particular task or behavior, and from here, begin taking baby steps towards the task or behavior. As we migrate from Conscious Incompetence to Conscious Competence, we begin to realize WHAT we lack, what there is to... learn, and what we can become... So that we can dedicate the time and mental energy towards classes and training to build up our body and mind. What exactly IS a coach... and WHY should we have one? Often times, no matter how disciplined we are, there are areas of our training that get overlooked... Many people neglect to turn and look BACK on the progress they have made.... We hone our focus to the goal ahead of us... OR the disaster behind us. A coach doesn't have to be more knowledgable... but they have to hold us ACCOUNTABLE to ourselves.
Mental fortitude is a NECESSARY element of success. It is the ability to focus on and execute solutions when in the face of uncertainty or adversity. Just as we push my bodies to new limits through vigorous training, we must also do the same with our minds. The mind operates like any other muscle in the body. If it’s worked, it develops more, becomes more dynamic. If it’s not, it’s just a lazy muscle that lags behind....
