Joan Captain is May’s Volunteer of the Month. Congratulations & thank you, Joan! Joan joined SDWS in 2014 and has been a willing volunteer ever since. She has been part of the First Friday hospitality crew and a volunteer at General meetings: setting up, providing refreshments, and then cleaning up. More recently, Joan has become the glue that holds the Education/Outreach team together. She is a great researcher, organizer, and communicator. She works tirelessly to find spec...ific schools and senior centers that match the requirements of the grant that helps to fund the Education/Outreach program. She has also volunteered her time as a SDWS Education/Outreach lead teacher to seniors. Joan is willing to go the extra mile to help others. And she does it with a smile. Joan Captain is very deserving of the SDWS honor of Volunteer of the Month. We appreciate you, Joan!

Best of Theme goes to "Medallion #2" by Roz Oserin in the current May "Visual Dialogues Member Exhibition. Ken Goldman, juror of the exhibition, comments, "The theme is 'visual dialogues,' and I see here that the artist is having a dialog with the viewer. I almost had a sense of Aztec calendar, then I noticed the beautiful repetitions of the circle throughout, and the repetitions of the horizontal lines at the top and the vertical ones at the bottom.
