I would like to introduce you to Dr. Beverly Daniel Tatum. She is an African-American Psychologist who holds the American Psychological Association’s (APA) highest honor, The Award for Outstanding Lifetime Contribution to Psychology. She is a thought-leader, professor and researcher in the areas of racial identity development, and race in education. Her list of accomplishments are endless. Her work has helped to shape me into the the clinician that I am today. I was introduce...d to her research article on Racial Identity Development as a young psychology student during my undergraduate years, and then again during my studies as a graduate student training to become a culturally-competent psychotherapist. Her powerful work stems from her experience as a Black woman, researcher, educator, and mother. I’ve included her Ted Talk at Stanford University titled, Am I Black Because I Drank Chocolate Milk? In my bio. Go ahead and educate yourself. :) See more

Or go to: FUMCSD.org to register. @firstchurchsd All are welcome to process grief during this strange and complex time.
Despite all the current uncertainty, let’s attempt to express gratitude for slowing down and focusing on things that bring us joy.
PSA: Considering others’ needs is still in our overall best interest.
Take a deep breath. Things will be ok if we continue to care for ourselves and our communities. #WeOverMe
