Drive-through Mikulàs Csomag Santa’s gifts distribution organized by the House of Hungary for our children’s school students. Mikulás (or Szent Miklós) is the Hungarian version of Saint Nicholas, and a similar figure to Santa Claus. In many cities, Mikulás is getting more conflated with Santa Claus. Still, it is believed that Mikulás arrives to celebrate his day, December 6 (while some countries celebrate it December 5), and leaves before Christmas. Sajnos idén, nem lehetett a gazebót lefoglalni. Hozzatok magatokkal kemping széket, pokrócot, ennivalót és ne felejtsétek otthon a szájmaszkotokat sem! Betartva a másfél méter távolságot, jó lesz újra szeméyesen is találkozni! Borzsák Annamária a nyár folyamán gyönyör, mosható szájmaszk...okat készített a ház tagjai számára. A több méretben rendelhet maszkok (3 réteg, 100 % kékfest, pamut, hajlítható orrbetét és szabályozható fül) adomány fejében kaphatók. Az adomány a ház javát szolgálja. Reméljük mindannyian jól vagytok! Már 6. hónapja van a ház zárva, de bízunk benne, hogy hamarosan újra kinyithatunk. Amint pontos információnk lesz a nyitás idejérl, tájékoztatunk titeket. Bár a ház zárva tart, szeptemberrel beindult a gyermek iskola távoktatás formájában. A felntt nyelviskolában is interneten keresztül zajlanak az órák. A megszokott éves piknik helyett idén, október 3-án du. 2-tl rendezünk egy kötetlen összejövetelt a De Anza Covenál, amire szeret...ettel várunk Titeket. Hopefully we can open in the very near future. As soon as the city gives us the green light we will let you all know. Even though the house is closed, the children’s school started in September. Our dedicated volunteers are teaching on line. The adult language school also operates using distance learning. Let us share this video for an inside look on reviving the customs and traditions of the Danube Swabians through this mock-wedding, as the countryside village of Mariahalom (Hungary) community gathers to conserve the unique German/Hungarian cultural hybridity in modern day. In spite of historical hardship, this ethnocultural group continues to survive in the spirit of Hungary today. It is due to the hard work and dedication of the volunteers and contributors that makes the preservation of such cultural phenomenons possible, just like for us at the San Diego House of Hungary.
