I always enjoy going around saying hello to the bunnies after doing some work at the shelter. One never knows what some of these bunnies went through before arriving here. Thank you for your support in helping us find them a better life.

After helping out at the shelter I was able to spend some time with the bunnies. Mini melted in my arms while petting him, seems a perfect choice for binge watching TV with. Shelby started kissing my arm right away before she started to explore a little bit on the sofa. Someone willing to invest some time with any of these bunnies will surely be rewarded. Here is Erina! She is one of our rabbits that are adoptable with special needs. Although 3 years old is still fairly young for a rabbit, Erina has been facing uphill battles one after another. Since she was young, Erina suffered from the rabbit equivalent of anorexia and being underweight had led to many other health issues that she has slowly been resolving through her care with SDHRS. Despite everything, Erina is still an active and sassy girl who loves pets! Her future ad...opter will need to keep a close eye on her and know to bring Erina to the vet during times her health declines, or potentially keep up with daily special care. If you are interested in adopting Erina, please submit an application through our website and one of our counselors will discuss Erina's care with you after taking our House Rabbit Fundamentals class! And if you already have a bunny or are not in a position to adopt, donations of supplies and funds are what allows us to take Erina to the vet or handle her daily care. Don't let your rabbits miss out on the fun this Halloween! Here's how you can take your bunny trick or treating at home: 1. Grab an Oxbow Hide & Seek Mat and your rabbit's favorite treats (or try something new!) 2. Take a couple treats, break 'em up into small pieces, and sprinkle them all over the mat 3. Present the mat to your bunny and let them go at it!... Not only is it super amusing to watch them dig through the mat in search of their treats, it's also really good enrichment for your rabbits! This game in particular, lets them hone their natural foraging behaviors and provides good mental stimulation for your rabbits. Rabbits need stimulation to keep them from boredom and finding fun ways to enrich their lives can be entertaining for you and your rabbits. Shout-out to our beloved Californian rabbits! As you can see, we have a lot of Californian mixes with us at SDHRS, and many of them are some of the sweetest rabbits we've met.
