A realtor thought: I am a Realtor and an essential worker. COVID-19 has huge impacted on my business. Thou Real Estate is considered an essential business and I’m an essential worker, I don’t get a pay every 2 weeks like most other essential workers. We get pay a commission only if the clients bought or sold. The process of closing a property as a listing or buying agent can take months, sometimes 1-3 years, lose money out of pocket and worse of all, lose the listing or bu...ying client to someone else because they think we’re not good enough or not allowing a huge credit out of our paycheck. Thou perspectively looking glamorous, Real estate business is not only cut throat but I think it’s one of most challenging professions to be in in this pandemic crisis. We don’t get unemployment because we are 1099 independent contractors. We risk our lives going out to appointments with the hope that clients may like this house, that house, with the process of putting offer in, hoping to get accepted, opening escrow, going thru inspections, until the day it closes, seem to be so far away during this COVID-19 crisis.
