Some have had loved ones, brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, cousins etc who have made the ultimate sacrifice, paid the ultimate price for our freedom and way of life. Some have not had such a close relationship but ALL of us who sleep under the blanket of freedom owe each and everyone of them a debt of gratitude that we can never repay. Let's all make sure to take a moment today to remember them.

SO broken hearted over the news of Tim Gill and his wife Joylani. Tim was an incredible musician, friend and fine young man. I knew Tim from the first note he ever played on trumpet to hearing his first composition played (when he was still in middle school) and knew then he was very special. My heartfelt thoughts and prayers go out to the Gill family. Tim will be missed but never forgotten.

It was 30 years ago today that I took over the keys to the San Diego County Music Exchange from Daniel Parker. I want to thank everyone who has been, and still is a part of this journey. We have built many wonderful relationships over the years. I love it when one of my kids brings in their kids for their first band or orchestra instrument, or when the parents of students from 5, 10 or 20+ years ago stops by just to tell me how the kids are doing! Quite a family we have! Your continued support is so much appreciated. I wish we were able to celebrate at a marching tournament this year as that is one of my favorite things about this career! Another legend/hero lost. So sad. Ed was my generations Jimi. Getting to hear something so new, unique and groundbreaking is something few generations are afforded. We got to hear him the first time he exploded on the scene in 78 when he changed not only guitar playing, but music as we knew it. RIP EVH
