The 2020 TDES Festa Committee has had to make the unfortunate decision and announce the cancellation of the Tulare Divino Espírito Santo Festa, which was schedu...led for June 8th 14th, 2020. This was a very difficult decision to make, but we felt that it was in the best interest of all, to cancel the 2020 Festa in order to protect the safety and health of our community, volunteers, visitors, and participants. Our current President Tony & Gail Nunes and their officers have agreed to continue on, as well as the incoming Junior and Senior Queens, for the 2020-21 year. The outgoing 2019-20 Junior and Senior Queens have graciously accepted to uphold their titles until the new Queens are crowned next year. Although the historical archives of our organization will show an empty space for the 2020 Festa, we all feel that we have made a necessary decision and look forward to serving our community for another year. We look forward to celebrating our faith in the Holy Spirit next year, May 31st thru June 6th, 2021. May the Holy Spirit continue to bless us and protect us! --FESTA DA BOLA 2020 UPDATE-- It is with regret that the 2020 Artesia D.E.S. Board of Directors, together with the 2020 Festa da Bola Committee and the Artesia ...D.E.S. Athletic Directors, announce that we are suspending this year’s Festa da Bola based on the need to maintain social distancing protocols as recommended by national, state and local authorities in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Given that this tournament and the accompanying festivities have consistently taken place during each of the past 46 years, this is a difficult announcement to make. Our initial plan was to wait until the first week of May to make the final evaluation on whether the festa needed to be suspended. Unfortunately, the school district is not allowing usage of the fields at Ross Middle School through the month of June which ultimately ended any hope of hosting a tournament and continuing with the festa. We had also considered postponing the event to a later date, but this festa requires a long weekend plus the availability of all facilities at Artesia DES and Ross Middle School for an extended period which was not possible. This decision comes down to public safety and is ultimately the only decision that could be made. It does not, however, mean that it was easy. We know that so many people have worked so hard to keep this tradition alive for nearly half a century and it is a great disappointment to interrupt it this year. The good news is that the current 2020 Festa da Bola Committee of Robert Sousa, Steve Miranda, Gary Pereira, Alice Sousa, Theo Miranda, Eric Pichardo and Michael Lourenco have agreed to stay together to organize the Festa da Bola in 2021. We look forward to all of the participating teams together with the whole community coming together next year to celebrate the greatest Festa da Bola yet.
