Attn: Firearm Owners TCSO CCW Instructor - Course of Fire Guidelines This Course of Fire is developed to standardize requirements between CCW instructors who provide gun safety courses for CCW applicants within Tulare County. These will be the minimum standards set forth by the Sheriff’s Office in order to provide a community member a certificate of firearm safety in compliance with AB 2103.... In order to certify a certain handgun, the student must fire the maximum amount of rounds the weapon holds. This does not including a round in the firing chamber. Half of the total bullets (or 50%) from one full magazine or one full cylinder must hit the target from at least the seven (7) yard mark. There will be no time requirement to discharge rounds or move through the exercise. Every CCW instructor who provides a certificate of gun safety completion will be the individual to witness, attest to, and certify each student. There will be no drawing or holstering requirement as there is no mandate for CCW holders to holster firearms. Students must qualify with each firearm they wish to conceal and carry. Instructors must include language on each certificate of completion stating that the student has completed 8 hours of handgun safety training for initial applications or 4 hours for renewal applications. The certificate must also state that live fire training has been provided compliant with the TCSO Course of Fire and AB 2103. Station 1) Full magazine or cylinder from 7 yards at 50% success **Example** If your firearm holds 6 in the magazine or cylinder you will fire every round from 7 yards. You must hit the target with a minimum of 3 rounds. **This is minimum requirements but if you take my course you will be held to a higher level. With that you will leave very confident, safe, and have an understanding on how to keep your training going on your own. **My opinion on Gun Free Zones, and how Gun support groups need to educate others** I think your going about it with the wrong approach. I am an Instructor, and FFL. I am all for support of gun free zones :) Yes you heard me. I support gun free zones. Whats a gun free zone ? In my opinion a gun free zone is a sterile environment similar to an airport past security. If our cities, counties, and school districts provide a sterial environment then i am all for it. The truth be told they cant provide this. Its impossible because it would require too much money and then you add the factor of humans running it, so we are back to square one. ALLOW LEGAL PERMITTED gun owners to carry everywhere :) The bad guys always win at Gun Free Zones
