Weekly Update Rates are down slightly and not as much as they should be based on the Bond rally. We had a busy week with the election, the Federal Reserve Meeting, and the Jobs Report. Bonds were struggling to maintain a tight range between a floor of support and a ceiling of resistance with them not being able to break above the ceiling for the last week and a half. The Stock Market was up all week which put added pressure on Bonds. However, Wednesday both the Stock and Bond... Market were up significantly which is an anomaly. The Fed meeting was uneventful and probably intentional in the face of the election uncertainty. Their statement was almost identical to their last one and didn’t cause any added stress to the Stock or Bond Markets. The Jobs Report came in at 628k additional jobs which was right above expectations of 600k. Within the report, the unemployment rate fell from 7.9% to 6.9% which was much stronger than expectations of 7.7%. In Housing News, CoreLogic released their Home Price Index for the month of September and it showed an increase of 1.1% with a 6.7% gain, year-over-year. Within the report, the hottest markets were Phoenix up 11.1%, San Diego up 7.1%, and Los Angeles up 6.3%. According to Steven Thomas’ report form Monday, November 2, we are at the lowest level of inventory for this time of year since tracking began in 2004. The good news is there are more homes coming on the market at this time than there were last year but he expects inventory to drop as we enter the holidays after Thanksgiving.
