Toilets come in two heights: Standard is 15 and comfort height is 16.5. A client of mine, who is a senior citizen, requested a taller toilet to suit her needs. She did not want one of those elevated toilet seats, which is quite ugly and unsightly. 16.5 was the tallest I found in any store. It was not worth it for her to spend nearly $500 to gain only 1.5 in height. I decided to call Kohler. I’m a big fan of their toilets as they rarely clog , perform well, are easy to... repair, and are reasonably priced. The saleswoman did a little research and found the perfect solution: The Kohler Highline Tall. It’s 19 from base to rim. That’s a 4 difference from the standard 15! The price is $350 which is very reasonable. I’m ecstatic for discovering this model. I will be recommending it to clients who are looking for an aesthetically pleasing solution to needing an elevated toilet

Before & after When I first started doing plumbing, I thought brass & cast iron drain pipes were superior to ABS & PVC. It should make sense that metal is stronger and more durable then plastic, right? Wrong. Metal drain pipes corrode over time, almost always crack when you try to loosen them, and require lots of tools and elbow grease to work with. On the other hand, plastic pipes last forever, are easy to cut, tighten easily by hand, and are significantly cheaper.

When clients ask me for recommendations for a washing machine, I always advise them to get top-loaders. Though more popular and stylish, front-loaders come with a slew of issues. The most common is that the front gasket gets moldy. There is no way to avoid it. Keeping the door open when not in use and running cleaning cycles with Affresh can postpone the inevitable. The replacement job isn’t cheap either. With all that said, our client was extremely happy with her new gasket. #appliancerepair
