The City of San Diego broke ground on #ChildrensPark in the Marina District of downtown this month! SDG established the overall vision for the improvements and closely collaborated with the community through a series of interactive workshops. The final master plan (General Development Plan) for the park renovation provides residents and visitors in the the Marina Neighborhood space for play, socializing, recreation, and exercise. Evolving the original park design crafted in 1...995, the improved site will include a children's play area, off-leash dog run, adult exercise equipment, picnic and open space, a vendor facility, and an attended public bathroom. Fox Point Farms, located in Encinitas, is reimagining the way we approach community building. This new, one-of-a-kind agrihood is an innovative community concept that balances residential development with sustainable food production. A publicly accessible agricultural amenity space anchors the project including a farm-to-fork restaurant, farm stand, greenhouse, and exterior gathering spaces. Edible paseos are woven through the community connecting residents with the wide r...ange of amenity spaces and the 5.5 acre working farm. Educational wayfinding will be woven throughout the community; telling the Fox Point story and it’s sustainable and agricultural ethos. A total of 250 new residential homes will be created featuring for-sale cottages, carriage units, and townhomes, as well as apartments. Thirty nine of these units will be set aside as very low income affordable residences offering attainably-priced, multi-generational housing. See more

Schmidt Design Group is excited to announce the opening of a playground at Bonita Cove. The half-acre playground is named for the late Maruta Gardner and is heavily influenced by the rich culture of the Mission Bay neighborhood. Stationed across from the historic Belmont Park, the playground pays homage to the iconic Big Dipper roller coaster with a large climbing rope structure. A joyful, cotton candy pink and blue color scheme and shade structures designed after the park’s ticket booths expand the atmosphere of the Belmont Amusement Park. We are overjoyed by the positive responses we received at Monday’s opening. A big shout out to Jennifer Montgomery for her dedication to this beautiful project! Come on out and enjoy!

With 14 years of experience, Todd has wide range of site planning and design experience both public and private, domestic and international. With a focus on design and team collaboration, Todd brings his forward thinking and positive approach to each project. Todd’s work with the firm includes the Arts District at Liberty Station; a recent President’s Award winner through the American ...Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) San Diego Chapter. He has also played a key role in the revisioning of the Costa Verde shopping center, the four-diamond Pasea Hotel and Spa, and multiple projects within the Millenia development in Chula Vista including the centerpiece open space, Metro Park. Todd has a passion for contributing to the local San Diego design community.
