OK, we aren't good at keeping secrets. This weekend, The Bar Society, Inc. will be back in the Garden serving craft cocktails and mocktails from 2:30 to close on Saturday and 11 am to close on Sunday. BUT THAT'S NOT ALL! flour+milk will be serving homemade ice cream sandwiches in the Garden on Sunday from 11am to 4pm. What better way to celebrate the holiday than in the freedom of nature before heading to a firework show?! See you there!

A letter from our CEO, Adrienne Nakashima: On this monumental day, I couldn’t help but think back to a scenario that was quite different over a year ago. At the beginning of the pandemic, there was so much uncertainty, fear and concern. Through it all, South Coast Botanic Garden stepped up, ready to be of service. Our team worked hard to assure all of you that the safety and well-being of everyone who visits the Garden remained our top priority. Fifteen months later we still ...stand tall, on this re-opening day for California, proud that we were able to serve the community in such a critical period in our lives keeping nature open and providing access to the great outdoors. Beginning today, and in accordance with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health and the guidelines from the CDC, we are asking each guest to acknowledge that if they are fully vaccinated, facial coverings are optional. The CDC advises individuals who are not fully vaccinated to continue wearing facial coverings. I want to thank you all for being with us through these last 15 months. The uncertainty the pandemic posed served us many lessons using patience for new procedures and rules, finding compassion for those who experienced loss, exhibiting grace towards our fellow humans, and the shared experience of being part of a one-in-a-lifetime event. As we find ourselves on the other side of June 15, let’s continue to move ahead with the same patience, grace and compassion so many of you shared with us during your visits to South Coast Botanic Garden. Even brighter times are ahead and we can’t wait to take this renewed journey with all of you.
