Solar panels: good for the planet, and a smart business move! Scandic’s biggest investment in sustainability has been the 398 solar panels installed above our facility. Some stats: - we produce 93kW an hour, two thirds of our plant’s energy use - ROI was less than 7 years! ... - panels require little maintenance, while protecting our roof - little direct sun hitting the roof keeps temps on the shop floor low - helped attract customers in the Solar and EV industries who appreciate our commitment to sustainability. see our website for more sustainability practices: https://www.scandic.com/about-us/sustainability #scandicsustainability #sustainablemanufacturing #bayareamanufacturing #EarthDay2021 #goodforbusiness #madeinamerica

Scandic has decades of experience with four slide stamping. Have you ever seen a fourslide machine before? Our Fourslide department is an important complement to progressive die stamping. On a fourslide, the finished part is the same width as the strip material, minimizing scrap!

Scandic worked with our customer in the solar industry to produce this part at high volumes on our 220 ton press. The customer had previously relied on stage tooling, using a blanking die and three forming steps, time and labor intensive! This video shows Scandic’s progressive die which ultimately saved three forming steps and lots of handling. Parts are then cleaned, degreased and dried on an in-line belt cleaner, and packaged. At over 14inches wide, it is one of our largest parts. This 8 foot die was built in-house by Scandic’s experienced tool-and-die team.

What contributes to safety, wellness, and sustainability? Skylights! Scandic's facilities include 44 skylights across the production floor. Increased natural light in the workplace reduces eyestrain for employees, ensures safety during power outages and emergencies, and lowers operating costs. Allowing natural light into the building reduces our energy usage and power bills while enhancing the workplace. Sustainability has been one key contributor to our business success. ... #scandicsustainability #workplacesafety

The internet is full of videos showing brake presses doing simple 90 forms, and we do that here too, but when volumes reach thousands it's time to get creative! #metalforming

Nice to see that we are still building progressive dies during this challenging time here, a new tool for a sporting goods item.

about 20 years ago I asked my facilities dept. at work to install foot-operated sink controls. There was some eye-rolling, but it's really popular now.
