Our beloved epileptic Vizsla Ziggy, who went to the rainbow bridge in 2019, had a loyal fan club of supporters for Valentine’s Day. Each year, we celebrate his life and memory by choosing a worthy dog who desperately needs our help. This year, we are celebrating SAMPSON’S FLIGHT FOR HOPE and Santa Barbara Vizsla Lovers Rescue, in cooperation with Vizsla Rescue Haven and incredible help from Pilots N Paws, Cane Rosso Rescue, additional support from CO/WY V Rescue and Airsong...’s Angels have given him an amazing chance. Sampson is one of the most deserving Valentine’s we have helped.. surrendered to a kill shelter in Texas a year ago, he had already endured an abusive trainer with resulting fear aggression in crates and kennels, when Cane Rosso rescued him. Then suddenly last month his resident trainer had a massive heart attack, leaving Sampson undiscovered tied and muzzled for 5 days without food or water. After two weeks in another shelter, so fearful to Sampson with his kennel trigger, in imminent danger of euthanasia, Vizsla Rescue Haven stepped up to take ownership if we could get him across three states to VRH’s wonderful foster! The Plano Shelter, Cane Russo, Vizsla Rescue Haven, three rescue coordinators including SBVLR and four incredible volunteers worked together enlisting the help of Pilots N Paws, VRH’s trusted former fosters in Tucson, and a remarkable private veterinarian who free of charge went to the shelter parking lot 7:00am day of flight to issue shots and Health Certificate. Whew! Sampson flew into the wild blue yonder! He won’t stop running free on his fenced acres and playing with his new Vizsla friends, but he is going to need medical procedures to improve his health and an intensive positive reinforcement training program with his skilled Academy of Dog Trainers behavioralist to face challenges that were not his fault. UPDATE: This group is awesome! Thank you so much for sharing, caring, helping I have no idea how I would have survived this time without your help. We will m...eet someone in LA this Saturday to see if Rico and her 2 dogs get along. If yes, she will look after our boy. I have received other offers to look after Rico, a bit further away I can't thank you enough for your help. This is my sweet boy, 12.5 years old. Is there someone in Los Angeles area who could foster him temporarily? We are devastated.... Our story: We are relocating from Panama to Australia. Panama is an unapproved country for pet imports to AUS. We "moved" on the 8th December to the USA, to start with the vet work. We were informed that the process is normally 45 days, but now more like 60 days (due to Covid). We wanted to be on the safe side, our flight to AUS is on the 6th March (within our ESTA). Titre test took 6 weeks to come back (normally 2-3 weeks). With the RNATT Test (back last week) Pet-Express started with the import permit. We just got an email that it can take up to 8 weeks (normally 2 weeks) And the quarantine outside of Melbourne (only one in AUS) is booked out until early June. We only can apply for a space when we do have the import permit Pet-Express said they will do everything possible to speed up things, but at the end of the day it is not their decision. We are devastated... We need a place for Rico from the 5th March for approx. 3 months?
