12/14/2020 The Coastal Cubs 14U completed their Summer and Fall campaigns during a very difficult time for all youth sports on the Central Coast. Our time together was filled with learning experiences for the players and coaches and along the way great relationships were developed. The team was coached by Steven Hardesty and Chris Joyce (pitching coach at SBCC). We are eager for the start of 2021 Coastal Cubs Baseball. A big thank you goes out to all the players, parents and coaches during our Covid-19 Summer and Fall.

THE COASTAL CUBS PROGRAM ADAPTS AND CONTINUES DEVELOPMENT DURING COVID-19 The past 8 months have been a difficult time for the entire country dealing with change and uncertainty during a global pandemic. The sports landscape at the amateur and professional level has dealt with many changes. The Santa Barbara Grizzlies/Coastal Cubs Program was able to continue their development process working closely with the local agencies while following the demands of the CDC. The Cubs ...were able to practice in small groups and participate in "cohort scrimmages". The Cubs 14U program showed tremendous growth as a group and were coached by Steven Hardesty and Chris Joyce. The Cubs HS program rolled out two groups of high school players, Upper-class and Under-class programs under the direction of Wes Ghan-Gibson, Steve Hardesty, Morgan Moore and Tom Myers. The Cubs roster had players from a variety of HS programs on the Central Coast. Players traveled to work with the Cubs coaching staff from Paso Robles HS, San Luis Obispo HS and Morro Bay HS. The roster also included players from Santa Barbara HS, San Marcos HS, Carpinteria HS, Ventura HS and Bishop Diego HS. Three high school players from the Cubs Upper-class team received commitments to four year colleges. 2021 RHP Henry Manfredonia (UCSB), 2022 LHP Chase Hoover (Texas Christian University) and 2023 RHP Cole Schoenwetter (UCSB).
