The Lab/Fight Church today. We talked about how to make a personal curriculum manageable, being a good training partner. There was lots of Jiu Jitsu, working on knife problems (including figuring out what is not doable under pressure/non-cooperation), gaining an attachment and control for an ankle pick at clinch range, hooking line kick defense, fighting measure and more. Tonight we worked on two new versions of the wall drill (thanks, Steve Grody), including a default cover (thanks Craig Douglas and Paul Sharp). This past Friday we had four competitors (Mike, Ryan, Alex, and Phil) in the Police and Fire championship. Three of our competitors gave it their all, but it didn’t go their way. I’m super proud of all of them for going out there and representing the gym and all of SBG so well. One of the competitors (Phil) got gold in the Gi and gold in NoGi! It was a great experience for the guys and we plan to compete again. Back to the drawing board. Time to keep learning and improving.
