The Foresters family is very sad to say that CHRIS MESSIER, Foresters Hall of Fame member and a longtime part of the Hugs for Cubs, and one of the most courageous people we ever knew, has passed away at the age of 36. Chris was one of the first people to be touched by Eric Pintard at the beginning of the Hugs for Cubs, and in return, Chris's bravery, guts, and resilience touched all of us. He celebrated all our championships, and we supported him through a lifetime of health struggles. But he bore them all with championship grace. Chris will be greatly missed, but his impact will stretch away forever through all who knew him and knew about him. 'Ster it up, Hall of Famer Chris! Please join the Foresters family in celebrating the life and legacy of a great baseball man, Nick Katzenstein. Few people have given so much service to our community in so many ways; the link to the excellent obit on Noozhawk gives you a detailed picture of a well-lived life. As it notes, baseball was one of Nick's passions and he was an active and enthusiastic part of our ballclub from early on as a board member, lending advice, support, and hard work. His son, Nicky, was also a player for the 'Sters. We send our thoughts and prayers to his large extended family and to everyone who will miss his powerful presence. Nick Katzenstein, now sitting in the best seat in the ballpark. https://www.noozhawk.com/article/nick_katzensteins_obituary

Congrats to 2019 Forester Garret Crochet who went right to the Majors tonight (Fri). A rare player who threw his first pro pitch in the Majors, not the Minors, Garret put up two of the fastest pitches of the 2020 season in his debut with the White Sox. Congrats also to Tejay Antone, a 2011 Forester, who has pitched for the Reds this season after seven minor-league seasons. Together, they bumped the Foresters all-time total to 52 Foresters-turned-Major Leaguers. Wow! 'Ster it up, Garrett and Tejay! https://chicago.suntimes.com//white-sox-call-up-first-roun
