Eric Spandri has completed his Eagle project, renovating the Sullivan House picket fence at the Historical Park. The Historical Society is so grateful for this young man’s generous offering of his time, skills and dedication. More than just a fence, it represents what’s right in this world. One person’s selfless endeavor that that adds to the experience of all who visit the historical park. Thanks to Eric and his crew, new life has been given to the fence and it will be here for a long tome to come.
Kick back at the Historical Park Saturday July 10, 10-3pm. Roll up your sleeve for a free vaccine 11-1pm at the County Health Dept's COVID-19 mini clinic at the Dance Hall! Enjoy free Bluegrass on stage while you rest! Then walk across to the Cottage Bar and support the Historical Society with a purchase of a soda, lunch, or ice cream (or all 3!). Already jabbed, you say??? Take a tour of the Historical Village with a docent and learn more about this hidden gem! Video is a Dance Hall porch jam from a prior year...
What better way to celebrate summer than an old fashioned day at the Historical Park with free live bluegrass music at the Community Stage? Saturday July 10. Music 10-3pm. Bring your folding chairs! Come by the Cottage Bar and purchase ice cold vintage sodas, hotdog or sausage lunch, and top it off with ice cream to support the Historical Society! And we've just got word that San Benito County Public Health Dept will provide free COVID-19 vaccinations in the Dance Hall from 11-1pm. Vaccine is approved for ages 12 and older. Who can resist getting serenaded with bluegrass while you get jabbed? We'll see you there!!! Highway 25, 1 mile south of Tres Pinos.
We are very excited to be able to gather in person at the Historical Village for our annual summer picnic. See the attached for more details. This is a perfect opportunity to spend some time outdoors in the timeless setting of the Historical Village. Please consider inviting a friend with whom to share the occasion as well as the venue. The village is really a hidden treasure in the county.... Reservations are not required but will help us use our resources wisely in shopping for the event. Hope to see you there!
Saturday was the last work day of the year at the Historical Park. The ECV Clampers have been here every month on the first Saturday. They continued painting the Ag sheds (man, those are loooong buildings!) and repaired the Cottage Bar decking. Special thanks go out to Donut Dave, who coordinated the Clamper's volunteer efforts this year at the Park. You rock. We couldn't do it without such great volunteers!
Are you interested in the history of the Hollister Airport? Join the Historical Society's Zoom meeting on December 16th to hear a presentation by Mike Chambless.
