A survey from USC and the partnership for Los Angeles schools underscores how poverty has exacerbated the toll wrought by the pandemic and how challenging these problems are to overcome. This survey also showed that the digital divide still exists for the low income folks of color. Many families do not have internet, access to a computer or a tablet and many kids do not have a quiet place at home to engage in distance learning.... Parking Lot Learning was SBBC’s aim to address this digital divide, while giving students access to homework help in an accessible area of the community. Not only have we received positive feedback from parents when it comes to the Parking Lot Learning program, but the kids tell us they look forward to coming to school here in the SBCC parking lot.
