Amazing visual history

The most definitive view ever!

Something more familiar starting to emerge! That's the good news. Hopefully no bad news will develop from the project. The devil is always in the details. But at least a reasonable recognizable facsimile of Tops is finally taking shape!

The site may look horrible now, but Top's Nightclub is going to be reconstructed. I spoke with the preservation consultant yesterday. As much of the original building that could be saved has been saved. Those elements will fit into the new building exactly as they had in the old building, except with more sound support and structural integrity.

Important Action Alert! The Top's Nighclub/Fat City Project needs your help! Solar Turbines has muscled a lot of attention to their opposition to our project by convincing several politicians it is in their best interest to oppose this project as well. All that without demonstrating any credible evidence that the project will be a job killer or force them to move. In fact architect Jonathan Segal has stated that if there was any chance this project would kill jobs he'd shut ...the project down immediately. The truth is the development team clearly has the law and zoning on their side. Now that it has become a political issue, we're asking for your help once again to save the Top's Nighclub/Fat City project. Please attend the CCDC Board meeting next Wednesday January 25th. Meeting starts at 1:15, but the Top's Nightclub/Fat City discussion, "Item 10" won't begin until after 2:00. The CCDC office is at 401 B Street--the Wells Fargo Building--right across from the California Theatre. Their office is on the fourth floor "Suite 400." If you park at Horton Plaza Mall, the walk from there is only slightly more than City Hall. Wells Fargo has parking down below, but it does CO$T! Once again folks, this is where the rubber meets the road. Please help by attending--and speaking out if you can. It makes a huge difference in saving this beloved landmark.

Looks like yet another battle. The situation begs for a compromise. The project is our best chance for saving the historic building.
