Wearing a mask is a practice that isn’t going away anytime soon. I have received several messages from clients frustrated with new or increased breakouts. Mask wearing traps bacteria and bacteria thrives in a warm, moist environment. When you add the friction of mask wearing into the equation it creates the perfect storm for breakouts. I am percent behind the #challengeaccepted #womensupportingwomen #womenempowerment movement. Self-love, self-worth, self-empowerment are all undeniably important characteristics, one could even say essential when it comes to being the best version of you. While I appreciate the message behind the movement, I don’t understand how posting a selfie does anything to actually put the message in action. In fact, much like the #nomakeupselfie challenge, I find it to be a bit mor...e boastful than beneficial. Especially when so many of the pictures are of celebrities and models that look to be professionally done. I question the message that’s being sent to all the young women looking for role models. Again, I love the sentiment of the movement, but why not post a picture of a woman in your tribe, your community, or a woman in the world you admire and want to support and acknowledge? Post a link to their business so other woman can support that. Post a link to their cause so other women can support that. We also need to support each other emotionally and spiritually. For me, that’s a much more productive way of showing support for #strongwomen #creativewomen #womeninspiringwomen and show our youth that it’s more important to take action than it is to take a selfie.
