In February and March, Moorpark Ward Relief Society women and their neighbors, gathered contents for 73 "Birthday Bags" that were delivered to West Valley Community Services. The bags contained a boxed cake mix, canned frosting, paper party plates, napkins, candles, birthday banner, balloons, and disposable cake pan. WVCS make them available to their clients who can now provide a "birthday party" for their children with each bag. They expressed such delight and gratefulness for these fun donations.

Neil L. Andersen taught, "In nature, trees that grow up in a windy environment become stronger. As winds whip around a young sapling, forces inside the tree do ...two things. First, they stimulate the roots to grow faster and spread farther. Second, the forces in the tree start creating cell structures that actually make the trunk and branches thicker and more flexible to the pressure of the wind. These stronger roots and branches protect the tree from winds that are sure to return. You are infinitely more precious to God than a tree. You are His son or His daughter. He made your spirit strong and capable of being resilient to the whirlwinds of life. The whirlwinds in your life, like the wind against a tree, can increase your spiritual strength, preparing you for the years ahead. How do you prepare for your whirlwinds? Remember it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation."

Join us for a special day of Fasting and Prayer this Sunday, September 27, 2020. The North America West Area Presidency has invited us to join a special fast... this Sunday, September 27th. Dear Brothers and Sisters, We extend our love to you and want you to know we are praying for your safety and well-being. This is a time of significant challenge and economic struggle for many as efforts to reduce the spread of COVID-19 continue and devastating wildfires burn across Washington, Oregon and California. We assure each of you that our Heavenly Father and His Beloved Son, Jesus Christ, are mindful of us and our individual needs. We can turn to Them for peace and comfort. Sunday, September 27, 2020, is a fast Sunday. It is also the weekend just prior to October General Conference. As an Area Presidency, we invite you to join us in a special day of fasting and mighty prayer. The purpose of this fast is five-fold: 1. To pray for increased understanding and personal revelation in preparation for general conference and the prophetic guidance and messages we will receive. 2. To pray that those suffering the physical, emotional, and economic impact of COVID-19 will be blessed according to their needs. 3. To pray that the hearts of people everywhere will be softened and turned toward the Lord in humility and that faith in Jesus Christ will increase on the earth. 4. To pray for spiritual strength to overcome fear and anxiety, for inspiration to protect ourselves and our families, and for the awareness and ability to minister to those in need. 5. To ask the Lord to bless and inspire our leaders as they address the complex challenges facing our nation and seek to protect the health and well-being of all people. We invite you to consider a generous fast offering and based on your personal circumstances, a donation to the Humanitarian Fund. We encourage each of you to seek opportunities to reach out to those around you who need assistance and support. Sincerely, Kevin W. Pearson Scott D. Whiting Mark A.
