Hello Santanas! September is suicide prevention month and we at Santiago want to invite parents to have a conversation with your child about suicide. We know it is a very difficult subject to talk about, but it is a very important one to have as this is an age where kids are very vulnerable. You never, ever want to say to yourself, "I should have asked if my child was having suicidal thoughts, but I didn't". We at Santiago have a counselor, a school psychologist, and a me...ntal health professional here to assist you as needed and as a resource for your child. I am enclosing a video link (only about 4 minutes long) to help. This video was made a few years back by the Mayo Clinic to help guide parents through this difficult conversation. We know you love your children...and we love your (our) kids too, so lets make sure we are reaching out to them and doing everything we can to keep them safe. Sabemos que es un tema muy difícil de hablar, pero es muy importante tenerlo ya que esta es una edad en la que los niños son muy vulnerables. Nunca, nunca querrá decirse a sí mismo: "Debería haberle preguntado a mi hijo(a) si tenía pensamientos de suicido, pero no le pregunte". En Santiago tenemos una consejera, un psicóloga escolar y un profesional de salud mental aquí para ayudarles según sea necesario y como recurso para su hijo(a). Thank you to the many parents who joined us for our CORE Classes Virtual Back To School Night! We now know why we have had such a successful start with some incredible students... because they have learned hard work, commitment and good character from you! We are grateful to our teachers and staff who have worked so so hard for our kids.
