Did you know that honey bees can’t pollinate tomatoes , but bumble bees can? Yep! Tomato pollen is locked tight in the flower and needs to be vibrated loose. B...umble bees can do what’s called buzz pollination. They latch onto the flower and contract their flight muscles, which produces the strong vibrations needed to release the pollen. Blueberries, tomatoes, eggplants and kiwis are just some examples of the many plant species that require this form of pollination. Thank you bumblebees! It is important to check, and have your pets teeth cleaned at least once a year. We grade dental disease on a scale of 1 to 4. Grade 1 dental disease is very small amounts of tartar and grade 4 is severe amounts of tartar with or without gingivitis and other pathology. Contact us at (619)449-4100 to schedule an appointment to get more information on your pets dental grade.
Kitchi did great this weekend in Barrett Junction, with his owner Janis, and has received the title of Tracking Dog. He found the glove he was tracking in 9 mins. He tracked a total of 440 yards with 4 turns. GOOOO KITCHI! Awesome job.
When was the last time you got your pets teeth cleaned? Yearly or biannual anesthetic dental cleanings are important. By the age of 3, 70-80% of animals have some form of dental disease. Getting preventative anesthetic dental cleanings are important because tartar starts under the gum line where we can’t see it. When the teeth are cleaned we use an ultrasonic and hand scaler to remove all of the tartar from all surfaces of the teeth, between the teeth, and under the gum li...ne. We then check for any gingival pocketing, loose, broken, abnormal coloring, and missing teeth. Once all teeth are cleaned and assessed we will polish the teeth with a pumice polish, just like your human dentist would do. Please contact us to schedule a dental evaluation and to discuss with our veterinarian about getting your pets teeth cleaned. Below are pictures of before and after an anesthetic dental cleaning.
