Free professional bonsai critiques, Bring Your Own Bonsai and Do It Yourself Bonsai settings. Vendors from Northern and Southern California in one huge location. UPDATE: Room Rate The room rate is $121.00 plus applicable taxes. GSBF does not have a block of rooms set aside with the hotel and getting an accommodation on the dates desired will be a first-come-first-served basis. Reserve your accommodation early.

World Bonsai Day is May 8, 2021. The Bonsai Garden at Lake Merritt, Oakland, California, U.S.A. will take part in celebrating World Bonsai Day at the bonsai gar...den. Docents will be on hand for guided tours. Free bonsai posters will be handed while supplies last. Hours will be 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. What is World Bonsai Day? The World Bonsai Friendship Federation established this international day of celebration to pay homage to bonsai Master Saburo Kato's mission to promote peace and friendship through the art of bonsai. The day is celebrated on the second Saturday of May each year, which this year is May 8th!

The Bonsai Garden at Lake Merritt in Oakland, CA has reopened for the weekends beginning in May 2021. Hours of operation are Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. ...and Sunday from 12 to 2:30 p.m. On Saturday, May 8, 2021, from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. the Bonsai Garden at Lake Merritt will celebrate World Bonsai Day. Free bonsai posters will be handed out (quantities limited).

Gene Lynch is a Veterinarian by career and bonsai hobbyist by love of trees and the Japanese art form. Gene is a founding member of the Redwood Empire Bonsai Society (REBS), Santa Rosa, California, which was established in 1981. However, Gene was much involved in bonsai long before REBS. Since our annual August show was cancelled due to Covid-19 outbreak and current stay at home restrictions, REBS members are encouraged to share their work on preparing to show trees during the medical crisis. These are some notes for you to think about before you get to the de-candling of your Japanese Black Pines. I have found if I de-candle between June 1 and June 10, I get good sized needles that match my size trees. These are Chyhin size trees, say 8 to 18 tall.
