Hey Fans & Friends, time for another great guest announcement... lets welcome Golden Age Artist, and creator of the FIRST Graphic Novel and one of the original pioneers of "Self Publishing"... JACK KATZ. Please Help Spread the Word & SHARE THIS POST!! For more info on the guests, Advance tickets and more... check out the website at "www.santarosacomiccon.com"... Jack's Bio: Jack Katz is an American comic book artist and writer, painter and art teacher best known for his graphic novel, "The First Kingdom," a 24-issue epic he began during the era of underground comix. Katz began working for comic-book publishers in the 1940s, when he was only around 16 years of age, during the Golden Age of Comic Books. His career in commercial work is a veritable who's who. Katz worked for Jerry Iger Studio, King Features, Standard Comics, Jack Kirby and Joe Simon's Studio, Timely Comics, Fiction House, Warren, Skywald and DC. When Jack finally decided to go independent, he wrote, penciled and inked his opus, "The First Kingdom" initially with Comics & Comix Co. from 1974 to 1977 and then with Bud Plant, a Comics & Comix co-founder. The final 24th issue was published in 1986. A recently discovered series of letters between Jack Katz and Will Eisner indicates Katz may have been the originator of the "graphic novel," as a term and certainly in practice, even if his work was initially released in a serialized form. Two more installments were added to "The First Kingdom" when it was issued as a hardcover reprint in six volumes by Titan Publishing in 2013. Katz has just completed a 500 page follow up he calls "Beyond the Beyond."
